Turning Repetitive Tasks into Your Personal SOP
You don't need to author a thick manual. Start with one recurring task and turn personal experience into repeatable steps.
01. Pick one genuinely repetitive task
Pre-flight packing checks, publishing a blog post, or weekly reviews are ideal candidates. Choose something you have already done a few times and document what you actually do.
02. Make every single step actionable
“Get ready” is vague; “Check device charge, pack charging cable” is concrete. Write steps as verifiable, observable mini-actions; place explanations and context in descriptions.
03. Reserve branches for variations
If a procedure diverges based on conditions, introduce branches in StepBy. Add a timer when waiting is required, or prompt for a photo or numeric check when confirmation is needed, keeping the flow true to real life.
04. Run it once, revise it again
Switch into step-by-step mode and focus on one step at a time. After finishing, look back at your execution trace: which steps dragged on, which were often missed? Feed those learnings back into the workflow, and your methodology will sharpen with every run.
